What you can do here
Checkout settings are on your account and on each event. The account's are the defaults. An event can choose its own price display and company purchases, and keeps that choice when the account changes. A link to your terms and conditions is set on each event.
Price display
- Show prices including tax suits selling to consumers. The price on the page is what they pay.
- Show prices excluding tax suits selling to businesses. Prices show before tax, with the rate beside them.
A buyer pays the same amount either way, and checkout shows the full amount before they pay. Whether a price already includes tax is set on each ticket type or item. See Taxes.
Company purchases
On the account, Buyers can say they’re booking for a company is on. Buyers who tick the box at checkout give a company name, a VAT number, a billing address and a purchase order number, and the invoice is made out to that company. Only the company name is required. They find the company’s address by searching for it, or type it in themselves. The search offers only addresses in the countries the buyer’s audience allows, and otherwise favors ones near your venue. They can also search for the company’s Eircode to get its whole address. An EU VAT number is checked against the EU's own register after the order is placed, and a number that doesn't check out never stops a sale. A customer who is signed in and books with their own email address keeps the company's name, country and VAT number. They're filled in the next time that customer ticks the box at checkout, and on their next invoice request.
When your event asks for a company on each ticket, the company on the buyer's own ticket and the company name for the invoice fill each other in. Whichever the buyer types first fills the other, until they type something different in the second one.
On an event, Who you sell to has three answers:
- People and organizations is the box described above.
- People asks nobody about a company.
- Organizations takes the box away. Every buyer gives their organization's details on every page of the event, audience pages included, and every invoice is made out to an organization.
With Organizations chosen, the details it asks for are listed under it. The organization's name is always required. The country, VAT number, billing address and purchase order number can each be left off the form, asked for, or required, and a buyer can't continue with a required one left blank. If you send e-invoices, buyers are still asked their own country, which the e-invoice needs. An audience page that doesn't ask for a VAT number never requires one.
Ask for e-invoicing details adds the identifier some countries need on an invoice: a Codice Destinatario or PEC address in Italy, a SIREN in France, a Leitweg-ID in Germany, and a buyer's own Codice Fiscale or NIF in Italy, Portugal and Spain. It starts off, and it's set on the account only.
Terms and conditions
Paste the address of your terms page into Link to your terms. The booking form then shows “By booking, you agree to the terms and conditions” above the button at the end of the booking form, with a link to your page. The line shows in the widget too. Leave the box empty to show no line.
To change the words, open the booking form in Customize. Once the line shows on the booking form, it has two boxes on the Words tab: one for the sentence, where {terms} is where the link goes, and one for the words of the link.
Unfinished orders
Switch on Collect emails from people who don’t finish registering to be able to email people who abandon their order. Buyers then see “We may email you about this event” above the button at the end of the booking form. There's no box to tick. Anyone who stops before paying shows under Abandoned in Orders, and you can message them until the event ends, when their details are removed.
It works from the moment you switch it on. People who stopped while it was off aren't listed. Switching it off stops collecting anyone new, and the people already collected stay until the event ends.
You can change the line's words in Customize, on the booking form's Words tab. It can't be hidden while the setting is on.
On the account, New events collect emails from people who don’t finish registering switches it on for every event you create from then on.
On an event
Each group on an event starts on Use the account setting, which follows the account. Choose either of the other two and the event keeps its own answer.
Good to know
- Everything a buyer gives about their company comes out in the Export from Orders.
- A duplicated event keeps the original's checkout settings.
