Put your own writing on a page

Show something you have written on any screen a booker sees, or in the emails they get, at whichever place you choose.

5 steps · About 3 minutes

  1. From the event's sidebar, select Customize

    Your eventCustomize
  2. Select Add content, at the bottom left of the preview

    go.tito.io/acme/summer-fetes-summer-fete/admin/customize?tab=look&zoom=50
  3. Select the + for the place you want

Every place your writing can go has a + beside the page, level with it. Point at one and it shows Add content, with a line across the block where your writing will go. On the event page there's a place under each block. On the booking form, the payment page, the order page, the ticket and the invitation there's one under each section of the page.

  4. Write something, or add something you've written

The place opens an editor. Write in it and select Add. A title is optional, and the page doesn't show it. If you want a heading, write one at the top of your words.

Once you've written something, the pieces in Content for this event are listed beside the editor, under Or add one you’ve written. Select one to add it. A piece already on that page or in that email is greyed.

  5. Select Done

Buyers see a piece in its place as soon as you add it. The preview scrolls to it and marks it Added for a moment.

Nothing you add moves out of Content. The same words can be on the event page and at an address of their own at the same time, and editing them in one place changes both.

Moving, changing or taking off a piece

Turn Add content on and point at a piece on the page. Its controls show at its top right, and each shows its name when you point at it.

  • Move up and Move down move the piece past the one above or below it. From the first or last piece in a place, they move it into the place above or below. Buyers see the new order straight away.
  • Edit opens the piece in the same editor. If it's also on other screens, in emails, or at an address of its own, a line under the editor says where. Saving changes it in all of them straight away, and the preview marks it Saved for a moment.
  • Remove takes the piece off this place, for buyers too. It stays anywhere else you've put it, and what you wrote stays in Content.

You can also select a piece on the preview. Its row in the panel has the same Edit and Remove.

Each piece in the list beside the editor also has a menu with Edit in it, and All your Content opens the full list.

If the piece has an address of its own, setting it to Closed only stops that address opening. The piece stays on every screen you've put it on.

Seeing where a piece is

In Content, the Where it appears column lists the screens and emails each piece is on.

Open a piece and Where it’s shown lists each place with the part it's under. Each one opens that screen in Customize.

Places in portals are listed too, and each opens the portal it's in. A piece is put in a portal from the portal's own page. See Put your own writing in a portal.

Adding a piece from its own page

Open a piece in Content. Under Where it’s shown, select Add to a screen and choose a screen or email.

Customize opens on it with a + beside each place, and the bar above the preview names the piece. Select the + for the place you want and the piece goes there straight away. Cancel leaves without adding it.

The link at the top left names the piece and opens it again. The new place is listed under Where it’s shown.

Giving one piece its own look

If you write your own CSS, each piece on the page carries its own name so you can style one without touching the rest. Open Customize, the Look tab, then Your own CSS. Every piece on the screen you are previewing is listed under the elements you can write rules against, and selecting one writes the rule for you.

The name comes from what the piece was called when you wrote it, and renaming it later does not change the name, so a rule you have written keeps working.

The places on each screen

Pick the screen on the left first. The places are different on each.

  • Event page: under any block, including the banner and the name.
  • Booking form: under your name and email, and after the questions.
  • Payment: under the heading, and after the ways to pay.
  • Order page: under the event name, at the top of the main part of the page, under your tickets, and under the ways to change the order. On a phone, the place at the top of the main part comes after what you paid.
  • Ticket: under the event name, and after the schedule.
  • Invitation: under the invitation, before your guest answers, and under the answer buttons. The same places show when you approve somebody's request for a place, on their page and in their email.
  • Order confirmation, Ticket email and Invitation email: under any part of the email, apart from your account's name at the foot.

Every place runs the full width of the page. The order summary in the side column is not one of them.

Writing for orders of one ticket or several

The order confirmation has two versions, one sent with orders of one ticket and one sent with orders of several. The Order size switch under the preview shows each of them. Anything you add to the order confirmation goes in both versions.

To send a piece with only one of them, open that version, point at the piece and select Both versions, then Only this version. The piece comes out of the other version. Select Both versions again to put it back.

Remove takes a piece out of the version you're looking at. Moving a piece that's in both versions moves it in both.

A piece under Their tickets goes with Ticket list on orders of several tickets, and a piece under Ticket list goes with the ticket on orders of one. A piece under a part a version doesn't have, like the schedule on an event with no sessions, goes with the part above it.

In an email, your formatting, buttons, pictures and photo grids look the way you wrote them.

Showing a piece to some ticket types only

A piece can be for the people with certain ticket types, like a form only exhibitors fill in.

Open the piece from Content, or from the piece itself in Customize.

Turn on Show for certain ticket types only and tick the ones it's for. The choice covers every place the piece is shown.

  • On the order page and in the order confirmation, the piece shows when the order has a ticket of one of those types.
  • On the ticket page and in the ticket email, it shows when that ticket is one of those types.
  • On the event page, the booking form, the payment page, the invitation and the invitation email, everyone sees it, because nobody has a ticket yet. So does the piece's own address.

The preview in Customize shows every piece, whichever ticket types it's for.

Who sees it appears once the event has two ticket types or more.

A button to their ticket, order or receipt

A button in a piece can open the ticket, the order or the receipt of whoever is reading it. Add a button from Insert in the editor, then choose where it goes:

  • The attendee’s ticket
  • The buyer’s order
  • The buyer’s receipt

Those buttons show only where Tito knows who is reading:

  • A ticket button shows on the order page, the ticket, the order confirmation and the ticket email. On an order of several tickets it opens the order, where all of them are listed.
  • A receipt button shows on the order page and in the order confirmation, once the order is paid. If your account gives free orders no document, a free order has no receipt and the button is left out.
  • An order button shows in the order confirmation. It's left out on the order page, because that's the page it opens, and on the ticket and the ticket email, because an attendee may not be the person who placed the order.

Anywhere else, like the event page or the piece's own address, the button is left out and the rest of the piece shows as usual.

Good to know

  • On the event page a piece sits under a block, not at a number, so moving the blocks in Arrange takes your writing with them.
  • Taking a block off the page or a part out of an email with Arrange leaves anything you put under it where it was.
  • Putting a piece on a screen or taking it off doesn't wait for Publish. Your other changes in Customize still do.
  • The ti.to line at the foot has no +. Under it is off the page.
  • In the phone preview there's no room beside the page, so each + sits just inside its left edge.

In Customize, select RSVP confirmation email, then Add content. Add rich text below the confirmation line for details such as a venue address. Use paragraphs, headings, and links. The content appears in both HTML and plain-text email.
