Once the event has issued that many tickets, every ticket type is sold out, whatever each one has left. Under the box, a bar shows how many are issued and how many are left. Tickets in an order that hasn't been paid yet count until the order lapses.
What counts
Only tickets count. Items, add-ons and donations don't. A bundle counts as the tickets inside it, so a family ticket for two adults and two children is four.
A ticket that is refunded, canceled or voided stops counting. A ticket a buyer changes to another type counts once.
What buyers see
Each ticket type shows no more than the event has left. If a buyer chooses more tickets than that across several types, the page comes back saying how many are left, for example "Only 3 tickets are left for this event."
It applies to every order a buyer places: on your event page, an audience page, a widget, a portal, an invitation, a quote they convert, an order placed through the API, and a place offered from the waitlist.
Orders you make yourself
An order you make yourself can go past the capacity. While the event is full, the screen says so beside the tickets. When saving would go past the capacity, a box at the foot of the screen says what it would raise the capacity to, for example "Raise capacity from 43 to 44". Tick it and save to go ahead. The same goes for adding tickets to an existing order and for adding an attendee, and for a ticket type's own quantity.
Attendees added several at a time, or imported from a spreadsheet, go past it without asking. The bar then shows how far over the event is.
Both apply, and a ticket stops selling at whichever runs out first. See Create a ticket type.
