Update the invoice details on an order

Change who an order's invoice is made out to, or its purchase order number, and send the buyer an updated one.

5 steps · About 2 minutes

  1. Open the order

    Your eventOrders
    go.tito.io/acme/summer-fetes-summer-fete/admin/orders
  2. On the order's own page, open Actions and select Update invoice details

It's there for any order that's paid or waiting to be paid.

  3. Change what the invoice should say, then select Continue

The page that opens lists each change next to what it said before.

  4. Leave Email the buyer about the updated invoice turned on

The buyer gets an email naming the canceled invoice, its credit note and the new invoice number, with a link to their order. Select See this email to read it before you send it.

  5. Select Update invoice details

The amounts on the invoice don't change.

A new VAT number changes who the invoice is made out to, not the tax on it. To give money back, refund the order.

An invoice that was already issued is canceled with a credit note, and the updated invoice gets a new number.

Both open from the order, for you and for the buyer. If no invoice has been issued yet, nothing is canceled and the first invoice has the new details.

Buyers can update their own invoice details for as long as you choose.

See Buyers updating their invoice details.
