Require a companion ticket

Stop a ticket being bought on its own, and have checkout offer the one that goes with it.

1. Open the type that can't be bought alone, and select Advanced on its edit form

   The rule belongs to the ticket that needs the companion. If a child ticket needs an adult with it, you set the rule on the child ticket.

2. Under Registration, turn on Needs a companion ticket

3. Pick the Companion ticket

4. Set Companions needed and For every

   "1 companion for every 3" means an order with four of this ticket needs two companions. The number always rounds up.

5. Choose Recommended or Required

   Recommended shows people a note they can go past. Required stops checkout until the order has enough, and offers to add them in one tap.

6. Check the What people will read preview

   It shows the sentence people see.

7. Select Save ticket type

Changing the rule from the companion's page

The companion ticket lists the rule on its own page too, under Needed with, with a row for every type that needs it. Select the ratio on a row to change the numbers or the strictness, or to select Remove this rule.

Good to know

The rule counts within a single order. Somebody who bought their own ticket last week, and comes back for the child's, is asked for another companion.
