Let buyers choose what they pay

A ticket whose price each buyer chooses, from a minimum you set.

5 steps · About 2 minutes

Buyers see a price box on the ticket's row, on your event page and in the widget. What they type is what one ticket costs.

  1. Open the ticket's own page and select Edit

    Your eventSet upTicket types
  2. Select Price it another way under the price, then Booker chooses

  3. Fill in Minimum price

Buyers can't pay less than this. Leave it at 0 to let people come for free.

  4. Fill in Suggested price, if you want one

The buyer's price box starts on it, and they can change it.

  5. Select Save

To go back to one price, select Single price.

What buyers see

Under the ticket's name it says Pay what you want, with the minimum when there is one. The price box is where the price would be, with each after it.

The price is for one ticket. Somebody who takes three tickets at €25.00 pays €75.00. Everyone in one order pays the same price for a ticket type.

If somebody types less than the minimum, the event page tells them the lowest price and they can't continue until they change it. A price of 0 on a ticket with no minimum makes the ticket free, and checkout skips payment.

Their receipt and invoice show the ticket at the price they paid, like any other ticket.

A discount code takes its discount off the price the buyer chose, even when that brings it under your minimum. A code for 50% off on a €30.00 choice makes it €15.00.

What people paid

The ticket's own page shows how many tickets were bought at the minimum, between the minimum and the suggestion, at the suggestion, and above it. Once something has sold, the top of the page also shows what the ticket has taken and what one ticket came to on average.

Those figures count tickets sold in your event's own currency.

Where buyers don't choose

Some ways of getting a ticket have no price box, so they charge the minimum:

  • an invitation, unless you set a price on it
  • a place offered from the waitlist
  • an order you make yourself in the admin, unless you type a price on the line
  • an order made through the organizer API

More currencies

If your event sells in more than one currency, Minimum price and Suggested price each have a box per currency. Leave a currency's minimum blank and the ticket isn't sold in it. Leave its suggestion blank and the buyer's box starts empty.

Bundles

A ticket whose buyers choose the price can't go in a bundle, because a bundle's price is worked out from fixed prices. Take the ticket out of the bundle before you switch it to Booker chooses.
