Add several attendees at once

Type or paste a list of people straight into a table, without making a file first.

   A name is all a row needs. An email address is what lets you send them their ticket.

3. Set the Ticket type and Price on each row

   Each row can have its own. Fill down, under either heading, copies the first row's answer to every row below it.

4. Leave Email everyone their ticket off, or turn it on

5. Select the button at the foot

   It counts what will actually happen, so a table with eleven usable rows reads "Add 11 attendees".

   Pasting is the quick way in.

   Copy a block of cells out of a spreadsheet and paste it anywhere in the table. The columns don't have to be in our order: the column with the email addresses in it is read as the email address wherever it sits, and if you paste your headings we use those. Whatever we worked out is shown above the table, with a dropdown per column so you can change it.

   A list out of a document works too.

   Any of these read the way you'd expect:

   • One person a line, with their email address on the same line.
   • One field a line, so the name, then the address, then the ticket type, with a blank line between people.
   • A ticket type on a line of its own, which then applies to everybody under it until the next one.

   A person with no email address is a row like any other, and numbered or bulleted lists are read without their markers.

   Pasted something wrong?

   Undo this paste puts the table back exactly as it was, including anything you'd typed by hand.

What happens when you press the button

If there is nothing to tell you about, the people are added and you land back on the attendee list.

If there is, the table comes back first with everything marked and nothing added. Press the button again to go ahead.

• A row that can't go in as it is says why, under the row: that it needs a name, or that the address doesn't look like an email address.
• Somebody already coming is marked as such under their address. Adding them gives them a second ticket, which is sometimes what you want.
• A ticket type going over its limit names how many places are left and how many you're adding. You can go ahead, and buyers then see that ticket type as sold out.

Good to know

• Nothing is added until you press the button, so you can leave the screen at any point.
• The table works without JavaScript. Add a row gives you five more and keeps everything you've typed.
• The table takes 250 rows. Paste a longer list and it fills in the first 250 and tells you, with the file import a click away.

Where a name could be read two ways

A name like Ana Alzamora Silmon could have Silmon or Alzamora Silmon as the last name, and only you know which. Where that happens, the check step lists those names with both readings side by side and the one we think already selected, so a list where every name reads plainly needs no attention at all.

Your answer is remembered for that name, and shared with Import a list of attendees. Answer it on either screen and it's answered on both.
