Move an attendee to another ticket type

Put somebody on a different ticket type without reissuing their ticket.

1. Open the attendee

2. From the menu, select Change ticket type…

3. Pick the type to move them to

   Every other type that's on sale is listed with its price and how many are left. Beside each one is what the move is worth: what they'd owe, or what they'd get back. If the order used a discount code, these figures already account for it.

4. Choose what happens to the money

   Don’t charge them and Don’t refund anything are picked to start with, so a move takes no money unless you say so. The other choices are to email them a link to pay the difference, to record money you've already taken, or to send the difference back.

5. Select Change ticket type

   The ticket keeps the same reference, so a badge you've already printed, a check-in list and the email they're holding all still work.

   They keep the answers they've already given you.

   If the new type asks something the old one didn't, that answer is empty on their record until somebody fills it in.

When the money can't wait

Emailing a link to pay is the one choice that doesn't finish straight away. The attendee stays on their current type until they pay, and moves to the new one the moment they do.

What can't be moved

A ticket from an invitation list or a portal can't be moved here. Those decide what the people on them get, so cancel the invitation or the portal ticket and issue a new one on the type you want.

A ticket sold as part of a bundle can't be moved either. The bundle charged one price for everything in it, so refund the bundle and sell the tickets you want instead.

A ticket that's already void is a closed record. To give that person a ticket, add them again on the type you want. See Add an attendee by hand.

Tax

Two ticket types can have different tax treatments. When they do, the tax recorded against that ticket changes even if the price is the same, and the panel says what it goes from and to. Nothing passes between you and the attendee.

Capacity

You can move somebody onto a type that's fully booked. The panel says the move takes that type over its limit, and lets you do it.
