Offer two things as alternatives
Say that a booker does the morning and afternoon workshops, or the all-day one, but never both.

Some things are alternatives. A booker takes the morning workshop and the afternoon one, or the all-day intensive instead. Asking them all three is asking someone to be in two rooms at once.
Say which ones replace which, and nobody is asked both.
Add an option that runs all day, on the screen where you set the blocks up, pairs the all-day one with every other block on that screen. The steps below are for blocks you made separately.

Under Instead of, tick what it replaces
Tick the morning one and the afternoon one. Choosing from the all-day offering now means nobody is asked about those two, and choosing from either of those means nobody is asked about the all-day one.

You do not need to say that the morning and afternoon ones go together.Leaving them unticked against each other is what makes them a pair a booker answers both of. That is the whole rule: one from the morning list and one from the afternoon list, or one from the all-day list.
Good to know
- Nothing is worked out from the clock. Two things overlapping does not make them alternatives, because an all-day session overlaps everything and a keynote spanning a day would close a whole conference. You say it, and only what you say happens.
- It is the same both ways. Pairing the all-day one with the morning one also pairs the morning one with the all-day one, and either page shows it.
- A booker who has already answered one sees the other say which they are doing instead, rather than going quiet with no reason given.
- Nothing is closed until something is answered. A booker arriving at the page is asked everything, and the choices narrow as they decide.
- A booker who somehow answers both is refused, and the message names the two so they know which to drop. This is unusual: once one is answered the other stops being asked. It happens on a page with JavaScript turned off, where both are still on screen.
- Add an option that runs all day sets that option to run 09:00 to 17:00. It's an ordinary time and yours to change on the option's own page, the same as any other.
