What you can do here

A discount is a percentage or a fixed amount off, which buyers get by typing a code at checkout. The Discounts list is every code you have, one row each, with what it gives, how many times it has been used and your note on it. Search finds a code by the code itself, by the note, or by what it gives.

To see each discount once, choose By discount above the list. Each row shows how many codes the discount has, or its code if it has one, and opens the discount with all its codes. All codes takes you back. The list opens on whichever you chose last.

Good to know

Deleting a discount retires every one of its codes at once.

When a code that was working stops working, look at the discount behind it first. To stop a single code, see Stop one code working.

  • Codes are case-sensitive and unique to the event. A code can be up to 191 characters long, without spaces, commas or any of / & % # ; ".
  • How many times it can be used caps one code. A canceled order, or one refunded in full, gives its use back.
  • Discount starts and Discount ends set the days a discount's codes work, in the event's own timezone. Both are optional, and they cover every code under the discount. A discount outside its dates reads as expired or scheduled in your list.
  • A discount comes off priced tickets only, and it stops at zero.
  • Card payments have a minimum. An order a discount leaves between free and that minimum can't be paid for, and the discount's own page says so with the amount.
  • Codes made together share what they give. Change one from its own page and only that code changes. Change them all from the batch, under the code's Came in with.
  • The event page, the booking form and Add to this order offer the code field once one of this event's codes could be used. Customize turns it off on each screen, or puts it behind a link. Codes still work from the link on each code's page.

Telling buyers where to find a code

To add a line under the code field, such as where to find a code, write it in Under the promotion code box on the Words tab in Customize. Buyers see it once they open the field, on the event page, the booking form and the widget.

More than one code

A buyer can use more than one code on an order, up to 100, and paste several at once. Codes off each ticket come off first, then codes off the order, and together they never take a ticket below free.

To keep a discount’s codes from being used alongside any other code, switch off Can be combined with other codes on the discount. Codes imported from Tito Classic start with it off, since Classic allowed one code per registration.

Codes and volume prices

A discount comes off a ticket's volume price too, worked out on that price. To keep it off volume prices, switch off Applies on top of volume prices on the discount. A buyer who takes enough of a ticket for one of its volume prices then pays that price with nothing off those tickets, and the discount still comes off their other tickets. The switch is there on an event that has volume prices.

When a code runs out

If a code’s last use goes while a buyer is checking out, they’re taken back to their tickets with the code named, and told if an order that hasn’t been paid for yet is holding it.

Codes on added tickets

A booker adding tickets to their order can type a code under Add to this order. It comes off that payment only, and counts as a use of the code. The code they bought the order with doesn't apply to the new tickets unless they type it again.

Counting uses in tickets

A code's uses count orders, unless the discount is off each ticket and you choose Each ticket under What counts as one use. Then a code that can be used 10 times discounts 10 tickets, over any number of orders. The order that reaches the limit gets the discount on the tickets that are left, and pays full price for the rest. A canceled order, or one refunded in full, gives its tickets back. Once a code has been used, what counts as one use can't change.

Events imported from Tito Pro

Discount codes set up in Tito Pro are imported with the event, with limits preserved.

These Pro codes aren't imported, and you can add them again here if you still need them:

  • A fixed amount off a ticket that has tax added on top.
  • A code with no uses left.

Events imported from Tito Classic

Discount codes set up in Tito Classic are imported with the event, with the tickets they apply to and their start and end times. Each one takes off what it took off on Classic. A code with a limit counts tickets, as it did on Classic, and arrives with the tickets it has left. Buyers can type an imported Classic code in capitals or lower case, as they could on Classic.

These Classic codes aren't imported, and you can add them again here if you still need them:

  • A code with no uses left.
  • A code with a space, a comma, a semicolon or a double quote in it.
  • A code with a minimum or maximum number of tickets per ticket type.
  • A code that shows secret tickets.
  • A code that isn't attached to any ticket, or is attached to a donation ticket.
  • A percentage off tickets in a currency without cents, such as yen.

A Classic code set to be disabled for volume pricing is imported with Applies on top of volume prices switched off, so it stops at the volume prices as it did on Classic.

A Classic code that hid your other tickets is imported, and buyers who use it see every ticket beside the ones it applies to.
